New to Fabled? This path covers profile setup, the core vocabulary, and creating your first campaign and character. About 25 minutes from start to your first session.
1
Get the lay of the land
Read the Fabled overview. It introduces the three layers (frameworks, frames, and elements) that everything else builds on.
— Fabled is a virtual tabletop for tabletop role-playing games. The Forge is where you build characters, rules, and worlds; the table is where your group plays them.
2
Set up your profile
Add a display name, avatar, and banner so other players can recognise you across campaigns.
— Open your public profile, launch the edit modal, and update your display name, bio, avatar, and social links. Changes go live as soon as you save.
3
Learn what a Framework is
Frameworks are the visual blueprints that drive every game system in Fabled. Skim this concept page so the next two steps make sense.
— A framework is the rules layer of Fabled. It defines what a kind of game object looks like, how it behaves, and how its values fall out of its inputs. Every element on the platform sits on top of a framework.
4
Create your first campaign
Pick a ruleset, name your campaign, and invite a couple of players. You can change everything later.
— Open the Campaigns list, run through the creation wizard, and land on your new campaign's detail page ready to invite players.
5
Roll up a character
Walk the character wizard end-to-end. The wizard adapts to whichever framework your campaign is using.
— Pick a game system, walk the character creator wizard, fill in identity and stats, and finish with a character ready to play.
6
Visit the virtual tabletop
Open the campaign's board view, drop a token, and try the dice roller. You're now ready for your first session.
— Open your campaign's Virtual Tabletop and orient yourself: where the toolbar lives, what each tool group does, and how the map canvas is laid out.
