Cosmetics on Fabled are the visual extras that ride along with your account: the dice skin you roll with, the trail those dice leave behind, and the sound they make when they land. Some come free, some come with a subscription, and some you pick up in the marketplace.
You can set them once for everything you do, or change them per-campaign. The two-scope choice is where most of the confusion lives, so this page starts there.
Global defaults vs campaign overrides
Every cosmetic setting lives in exactly one of two places:
- Your global defaults apply everywhere on Fabled: every campaign, every personal roll, every appearance of your dice across the platform. This is the right place for the look you want to be associated with day-to-day.
- A campaign override applies only inside that one campaign. Use it when a specific table calls for a specific look (gothic dice for the horror game, gold dice for the high-fantasy game) without changing what you roll with elsewhere.
There is a single switch that decides which one a given campaign uses. The campaign cosmetics panel has a Use Default Cosmetics checkbox at the top:
- Checked: the campaign uses your global defaults. Any selections in the panel are ignored. This is the default for every campaign you join.
- Unchecked: the selections in this panel take over for this campaign. Your global defaults are untouched; they come back the moment you re-check the box.
What you can customise
Cosmetics today cover the dice roller. Each piece is independent; you can change one without touching the others.
- Dice skin: the physical look of the dice (marble, gold, glass, themed seasonal sets). Skins ship as themed sets, so picking 'gold' usually applies the same look across every die type in the set.
- Dice trail: the visual trail the dice leave in flight. Subtle by default; flashier trails are available as unlocks.
- Dice audio: the sound the dice make when they land. Audio defaults to whatever the skin suggests (a marble skin sounds like marble); you can override it independently if you prefer a different mix.
Where the cosmetics come from
Anything you have unlocked shows up in your collection automatically. There is no claim step for most sources; you own it the moment you earn or buy it.
- Marketplace: individual cosmetics and themed bundles you buy outright. Yours forever.
- Premium subscription: monthly cosmetic rewards while your subscription is active. Tier-specific.
- Achievements: completing some achievements grants a cosmetic. They show up in your collection once unlocked.
- Seasonal claimables: limited-time rewards posted in your collection's 'ready to claim' area. Claim them while they are live; missed claimables generally do not come back.
- Linking Discord: gives you the Sync Dice cosmetic as a one-off reward.
Where to equip
Two places, matching the two scopes:
- Global defaults: your account page, Collection tab, gear icon in the top-right. The blade that opens is your default cosmetic settings; selections here apply across every campaign that has 'Use Default Cosmetics' checked.
- Campaign override: inside the campaign's virtual tabletop, open the settings and pick Dice Cosmetics. The same blade opens, but selections apply only to this campaign.
Both blades have a Test Roll button. Use it. Cosmetics in a thumbnail look very different from cosmetics on a die that just landed; the test roll shows you what your table will see.
Where to go from here
- The Marketplace overview concept page covers how to browse, buy, and claim cosmetic items.
- The Achievements concept page lists what is unlockable today and how unlocks tie back into your collection.
- If you only need to change your defaults right now, the Edit your profile how-to picks up there.
