Cosmetics

Cosmetics are the visual extras that go with your account: the dice you roll, the trail they leave and the border around your avatar. Some come free, some come with a subscription, and some you buy in the Store.

You can set them once for everything, or change them for a single campaign. That choice is where most of the confusion lives, so this page starts there.

Profile defaults and campaign choices

  • Your profile defaults apply everywhere on Fabled: every campaign where you have not chosen otherwise, and your personal rolls.
  • A campaign choice applies only inside that one campaign. Use it when a table calls for a look, such as gothic dice for the horror game, without changing what you use elsewhere.

The campaign's Cosmetics tab shows an Equipped cosmetics card with one row per slot. A slot you have not changed uses your profile default. When you pick something for a slot, it overrides your default in that campaign only. Press Use profile default on that slot to go back.

What you can customise

  • Dice skin: the look of the dice, such as marble, gold or glass. A skin usually dresses every die type in the set.
  • Dice trail: the trail the dice leave in flight.
  • Profile border: the frame around your avatar, visible on your profile and in campaign member lists.

Dice sets

You can equip up to eight numbered dice sets. Dice Set 1 is used for every roll. A roll can name another set, for example 1d20#2 uses Dice Set 2, and a framework can name a set too. Each set has its own skin.

Where cosmetics come from

Anything you own shows up in your collection. You do not need to claim most of it.

  • The Store: open Store in the top menu to buy cosmetics.
  • Gifts and trades: buy a cosmetic for a friend with Buy as a gift, or receive one as a gift or in a trade.
  • The Player market: buy copies other players have listed. See the marketplace overview.
  • Your subscription: Standard and Premium include a monthly cosmetic reward. See Subscriptions and tiers.
  • Claimable rewards: limited-time rewards appear as Ready to Claim in your collection. Claim them while they are live.
  • Linking Discord: gives you the Sync Dice set.
  • Kickstarter: backers can redeem their pledge cosmetics. See Redeem your Kickstarter rewards.

Some cosmetics are account-bound. They cannot be gifted, traded or sold.

Where to equip

  • Profile defaults: open your account, go to Collections, then press Dice Cosmetics above the collection grid. The Default Cosmetic Settings panel opens.
  • Campaign choice: open the campaign and go to its Cosmetics tab. Pick a slot, then pick a cosmetic from the grid to equip it for this campaign.

In the grid, the Owned and Not Owned chips switch between what you have and what you could buy, and the search box filters by name. An empty slot links you to the Store.

Both places have a roll preview, called Test Roll in the defaults panel and Preview Roll in the campaign tab. Use it. A cosmetic looks different on a die that just landed than in a thumbnail.
